TERZO GIARDINO:
glimpses of wilderness
Wandering around Florence on a Sunday afternoon, you might unexpectedly behold glimpses of wilderness and nature, even in the heart of my boutique city.
That's what happens to me when I gaze upon Terzo Giardino, a rare green area that hosts spontaneous plants growing along the riverbank, a few steps form the Piazza della Signoria, the Salotto di Firenze.
Far from the tidiness of Boboli, this garden provides the same sense of tranquility and connection with nature.
It's an unexpected corner that evokes wilderness, within the urban landscape, yet still aligned with the city's love for beauty.
If you're planning a visit to Florence, you may be iterested in this route

the wonder of a staycation
I know it might sound strange to the most, but sometimes we enjoy taking guided tour in our own city. There are many initiatives that offer a mood and pace quite different from the hit-and-go activities; it's all about digging and searching.
So last week, I dug and searched and booked a free guided stroll along the ancient walls. The Italian tour was fully booked, so we did not have a chance but to book the English tour, which was even nicer since we mixed with foreign tourists and had the opportunity to see our city through their eyes.
That's something we do a lot, walking around trying to see the city through the eyes of a first-time visitor; in fact, that was the reason why I started my digging when my child was a toddler, I loved discovering the city through his eyes.
Sometimes, it takes very little to escape from the daily rhythm.
